How Did They Do That?

Before the games and inflatables, there was "The Game Show" in the sanctuary. Lawton First Assembly's version of "Deal or No Deal" and "Let's Make a Deal" were presented. Pastor Greg and his trusty assistant, Deuce, performed an amazing "Gospel Wonder" by trading places in a locked and chained box! The message of God's love was conveyed to children and adults.

Family Fest 2008

Sunday Evening the Children's Departments sponsored a Community Outreach Event. The preschoolers had fun in the fellowship hall, while the elementary kids had their activities in the Youth Center. Judging from the smiling faces, the event has been deemed a success!

Newest "Family" Member

_____

We have another "Grand Puppy!" This one belongs to Sid and Heather. He is a 3 month old beagle, whose name is Buster. For those who have known us awhile, you may remember this is not the first "Buster" we have had in our family. When the kids were little, we had a dalmatian whose name was Buster. Boy was he ever a Buster! We have lots of Buster stories. Heather told me she may call this Buster, "Jr." in honor of the first Buster. Well, he IS a cutie! Love the pumpkin shot!

Lessons from the Pumpkin Seed

Pastor Don's illustrated his message Sunday, October, 12 by cutting open a pumpkin and removing the seeds. His demonstration showed us the principle of giving. Near the end of the message, Andy Adams came to the platform to share what he has learned about giving. His parents taught him by example when he was a child. They gave to his home church's building fund (about 25 years ago.) Little did they know at the time that they were investing in shaping the life of a young woman, who is today running for VP of the United States. You see, Andy grew up in Wasilla, Alaska. That church building program provided a place for Sarah Palin to learn about the ways of God. Only eternity will tell whose lives we are shaping in the children's programs at Lawton First Assembly.

We celebrated The Dream of our new children's wing Sunday evening, October 12, 2008 in the Youth Center. The church was challenged by Lawton's Goodyear Tire Plant manager, Billy Taylor. He is pictured here with his lovely family: daughter, Alexis; wife, Rachel; and son, Alex. The 3 year Capital Campaign Challenge has begun!

Linda's Mom's "Lost" Recipe Found!

Years ago, Linda's mom worked at Putnam City High School's Cafeteria. She made the most luscious cinnamon rolls. After Syble's death, the family thought the recipe was gone. But thanks to the internet, we found the recipe. Heather made them first. But she is too far away for us to enjoy them, so Linda made some yesterday. YUM! Can't you almost smell them and taste them yourself???
