Military & Civil Service Retirement Ceremony

Two of Lawton First Assembly's members received recognition at the above pictured ceremony at Ft. Sill's Quadrangle. SFC Susan Jackson retired from approx. 20 years of active duty with the USA MEDDAC. Also honored was Ron Kitchens who worked 48 years civil service at Ft. Sill. (That is not a typo! He really worked there 48 years! He doesn't look old enough to have worked there that long!) Ron has also faithfully served on the board of Lawton First Assembly of God for 39 years. Ron's office honored him with a reception that followed the ceremony. Congratulations to both Susan and Ron for sacrifice, time, and service to our nation.

Don and Linda Celebrate Their 32nd Wedding Anniversary at the OKC Zoo!

We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at the zoo! We haven't been to the OKC zoo in years. They have made some wonderful improvements there. We enjoyed the tram ride around the park, about 80% of the zoo exhibits are visible from the tram. We got off the tram once to get an up close and personal look at some of the animals. It was a fun morning! Then we had lunch and did a little shopping before our evening meal at Lottinville's in Edmond, OK. It is a great place to eat. The building is made of logs. We had a wonderful day celebrating God's blessing of 32 years of marriage. What a great life!!!!

Pastor Don was invited to share his vision for the future of Lawton First Assembly Sunday evening with a large group of young adults at the Haubrick's home. Click on the picture of the horses to see first-hand how a real cowboy rounds up horses. Yes! That is Deacon Sam Haubrick at the wheel! Each Sunday evening this group enjoys, fun, food, fellowship and a time of devotion. It is a great Sunday night place to be!

ILA 2008 Family Fun Zone

The city of Lawton recently built a wading pool/fountain as a permanent display in the park. As you can see, kids can't resist water on a hot summer day. Another popular place to be in the afternoon at Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton, OK was ILA's Family Fun Zone! The chuck wagon took the onlookers back to pioneer days. The food was prepared just like it would have been out on the prairie.

Attractions at I Love America 2008

There were many popular attractions at ILA. There was something for everyone. Featured this year was a classic car show and a large aquarium on wheels. A huge attraction was the autograph signing by Lauren Nelson, Miss America 2007. There was an awesome demonstration of "feats of strength" by Power Team member, Carey Leighow. He makes bending a frying pan into a burrito shape look like child's play! The last picture in this post is a close up of Carey after his demonstration. Lawton First is proud to have him on "our team." What a great day!
